RiversWest Board Meeting Minutes, 9/21/09
 
Attendees:  Jim Litton,. Peter Wilcox, Steve Mahoney, Bob Meehan, John Whitehouse, John Bouwsma

   1. Planning meeting: 
         1. Scheduled for Nov 14 at the Fish House on Hawthorne
         2. All members to be invited if interested
         3. New board members to be solicited
   2. Messabout on Oct 4:
         1. Must have insurance if we are going to hold the event. 
         2. John W to find out when the current  policy will expire
         3. Peter W to contact a different agent about a new policy—current agent appears slow to respond
   3. Signs needed for shows and other public events:
         1. Large sign: Non-profit, Amateur Boat Building” for shows, to set appropriate expectations
         2. Need literature to hand out
         3. Literature from the last show was put in a large white box in the boat shop—John and Stu to investigate before proceeding with new literature
   4. Next FWN ad:  we have 2 ½ bays that need to be filled
   5. Rent to be paid to Pier99
         1. Pier99 has requested that we start paying $500/mo starting on August 1
         2. Our business plan called for starting to pay $250/mo starting in 2007, increasing to $500 in 2008
         3. Motion by Peter to counteroffer with $400 retroactive to 8/1/09, based on having only 80% of the space we originally had, when the $500 figure was first mentioned
         4. Motion passed unanimously; Jim to contact Walter with this offer
   6. Money Raising Activities
         1. Advertise open bays in FWN
         2. Sell assets such as boats, unused tools, etc on Craig’s List
              i.      This would require a board member to administer
             ii.      Use 1st & 3rd Saturdays to decide what to sell and how much to ask
            iii.      E-blast prior to a working session to make these decisions
   7. Hall Templeton Repairs
         1. HT damaged by wake from wakeboarder on return from Maritime Heritage Festival
         2. Suggestion that we begin repairs at 1st Saturday, Oct 3
   8. Shop Improvements Steve M can borrow scaffolding to hang:
         1. More lights
         2. Rigging to turn boats over
         3. One of the furnaces to use for several bays
         4. Club boats
