- A handout will be provided in class
From the class:
Mike showed us how to measure and cut the leather piece, and instructed us on how to mark and make the holes for stitching. Suggestions for suppliers were provided ( Oregon Leather on NW 2nd, Sexton's Marine on Hayden Is for waxed sail thread, Joann's Fabrics for #16 tapestry needles ). Mike showed us how to get started stitching on an oar that he brought in. Students from Pacific Crest School in Portland brought in a pair of oars, which are for a Salt Bay Skiff they started building last September, and left the session with leathers stitched on both - well done!
