Using electrolysis for rust removal workshop - June 21, 2014 9:30 - noon
Cost: $10 members, $20 non-members
Leaders: John Whitehouse and Mike Simmons
Format of class:
John and Mike will be demonstrating the use of electrolysis to remove rust from iron. You are all welcome to bring in a rusty tool or tools. The setup will accommodate small tools that will fit into a 5 gallon bucket 2/3's full, or handsaw blades for which we have a special tray. We can't remove rust from chromed tools due to the presence of toxic heavy metals in the chrome. This is a very simple process that you will be able to repeat at home once you see how it is done. In addition to your rusty tools, please bring some Scotchbrite pads to clean them with afterwards.
For more information, please contact John Whitehouse at [email protected] or Mike Simmons at [email protected]
